Nortel: Going Into the Dark
Nortel Network จากบริษัท telecom ชั้นนำของแคนาดาที่ราคาหุ้นพุ่งไปถึง $124 เมื่อปี 2000 จนขณะนี้ราคาหุ้นเหลือแค่ 12 เซ็นต์ และในที่สุดต้องขอคุ้มครองการล้มละลายจากศาล (Chapter 11) เมื่อวันที่ 16 ที่ผ่านมา ซึ่งเป็น 1 วันก่อนถึงวันกำหนดชำระหนี้กว่า สี่พันห้าร้อยล้านเหรียญ Nortel พยายามแก้ปัญหาทั้งจะพยายามขายกิจการ Optical Network ที่ยังทำรายได้อยู่ หรือมีการคุยกับ Huawei เรื่องการขายบางแผนก แต่ดูเหมือนจะไม่เป็นผล บริษัทอายุ 113 ปีนี้มีประวัติศาสตร์ย้อนกลับไปถึงยุคของ Bell Canada ที่ยิ่งใหญ่ในอดีต เป็นผู้นำทางด้าน Optical Network และเริ่มหันเข้าสู่ enterprise ที่ทาง Cisco คุมหัวหาดอยู่ มาเริ่มประสบปัญหาจากช่วงฟองสบู่ .com แตก ยิ่งมาเจอเศรษฐกิจโลกช่วงนี้อีก นี้คงไม่ใช้บริษัทแรกที่จะต้องเข้าสู่สภาพแบบนี้ คงต้องดูต่อไปว่าใครจะเป็นรายต่อไป
