คนในวงการมือถือคงจะรู้จักชื่อ Nexus One กันดีเพราะเมื่อปลายปีที่แล้วเป็นที่ฮือฮาว่า Google ได้ประกาศตัวโทรศัพท์ Android ในยี่ห้อของ Google เอง  ซึ่ง spec นั้นถือได้ว่าเป็นที่สุดของที่สุดในบรรดา Android phone ในขณะนั้น  ขนาดบางคนเรียก Nexus One ว่า iPhone Killer  ทำให้ผู้ผลิตหันมามองตลาดของ Android อย่างจริงจัง

แต่เนื่องจากการตลาดของ Google ที่ขายเฉพาะทาง Online เท่านั้นทำให้ผู้ที่อยากจะหยิบ จับ ก่อนซื้อต้องหาดูจากเพื่อนฝูงที่ซื้อมาก่อนแล้วเท่านั้น  ทำให้ยอดขายของ Nexus One นั้นไปเรื่อยๆ  ไม่ได้ถล่มทลายอย่างที่คิดกันไว้  ในขณะที่ยี่ห้ออื่นๆ ก็เริ่มมี smart phone ที่ spec ใกล้เคียงกันออกมาสู่ตลาด

ในที่สุดปลายเดือนที่ผ่านมา  ทาง Google ก็ประกาศที่จะยกเลิกการขาย Nexus One ทั้งหมด  โดยที่ภายหลังประกาศเพิ่มเติมว่าจะขายให้สำหรับ developer โดยที่จะให้เป็น Official Developer phone แทน G1  ซึ่งถือว่าเป็นการปิดฉาก Smart Phone ตัวเก่งนี้ไป  โดยที่มีเวลาอยู่ในตลาดเพียง 7 เดือน

นักวิจารณ์ก็มองการยกเลิก Nexus One นี้เป็นสองฝ่าย  บ้างก็ว่าการตลาดแบบ online ของ Google นั้นล้มเหลวไม่เป็นท่า  แต่ยังมีบางฝ่ายคิดว่าแท้ที่จริงแล้ว Google ไม่ได้แน้นที่จะขาย Google One เพื่อเอายอดขาย  แต่ที่จริงแล้วเพื่อเป็นการดึง Android ให้เป็นที่สนใจต่างหาก

ว่าไปแล้วก็มีประเด็นที่น่าคิดอยู่ไม่น้อย  เพราะเมื่อปลายปีที่แล้ว smart phone ที่ใช้  Android ก็มีแต่ G1, Hero และเครื่องที่ไม่ค่อยจะเป็นที่รู้จักอยู่ 2-3 รุ่น  แต่ ณ วันนี้ใครๆ ก็พูดถึง Android และมี Smart Phone รุ่นใหม่ๆ ที่ spec ดีกว่า Nexus One ออกมาทุกเดือน  มีผู้ผลิตทั้ง HTC, Motorola, Sony รวมถึงผู้ผลิตเครื่องราคาถูกเช่น iMobile, Wellcom  ส่วนทางด้าน application ก็พึ่งผ่าน 100,000 ไปหมาดๆ  ซึ่งถ้ามองในแง่นี้ก็ถือว่า Google ประสพความสำเร็จก็ได้

Google usually has plastic of the released Android version display at the yard in front of Android office.   Within several days, the new version was released.   Last week, there is a report that a new Frozen Yogurt sculpture display at the yard.

So we can expect Android 2.2 soon.

หลังจากที่อิจฉาคนใช้ iPhone กับ Android มาพักใหญ่ ในที่สุดก็ได้ Nexus 1 มาใช้

ตอนนี้ต้องปรับตัวพอสมควร เพราะตั้งแต่ เลิกใช้ Palm ก็แต่ใช้ WM มาตลอด แต่หลายๆ อย่างก็ดีจริงๆ

ช่วงนี้ Social Network application กำลังมาแรง  แต่พอไปหา  application  สำหรับ Windows Mobile กลับไม่มี   ที่เห็นส่วนใหญ่จะเป็นของ iPhone, Android  หรือไม่ก็ Blackberry  ไม่น่าเชื่อว่า Android เป็น platform น้องใหม่แต่มาแรงเหลือเกิน

ไม่ว่าจะเป็น Brightkite  หรือ Foursquare  ต่างก็มี iPhone กับ Android app เป็นหลัก  ยังดีที่ Twitter ยังมี application บน Windows Mobile  แต่ยังสู้ทางด้าน iPhone ไม่ได้

คงเป็นเพราะ WM นั้นดูเป็น platform ที่คนส่วนมากใช้ทางธุรกิจ  ส่วนทาง iPhone นั้นจะเป็นแฟชั่นกันมากกว่า  โดยเฉพาะทาง Android นั้นจะดูเหมือนจะเป็นพวก Geek สุดๆ

Where is Windows Mobile

Google just released version 3 of their browser Google Chrome.  This new version claim to be faster than previous release and also more customizable such as now it supports theme.

I personally still cannot see the speed increase from previous version but the theme and movable tab is very interesting.

เมื่อสองวันที่ผ่านมา  ตัวการ์ตูนขวัญใจเด็กๆ เมื่อเกือบ 20 ปีก่อน  ได้ถึงวัน (ที่จะครบรอบ) วันเกิดอีกครั้ง  หลายๆ คนอาจจะไม่ทราบว่าโดราเอมอน  ตามเรื่องนั้นเกิดวันที่ 3 กันยายน 2112  ทาง Google Japan ก็เลยเปลี่ยน Logo Google ที่หน้า search เฉพาะของ google.co.jp เป็นรูปด้านบนและมีงานฉลองวันคล้ายวันเกิดโดราเอมอนที่ Roppongi Hills Arena ไปก่อนหน้านี้แล้วด้วย

Google นั้นถือเป็นประเพณีที่จะแต่ง logo Google ให้เป็นรูปต่างๆ เพื่อเฉลิมฉลองวันสำคัญๆ  เช่นวันปีใหม่  หรือวันคล้ายวันเกิดของบุคคลสำคัญ  ดู Logo Google ตั้งแต่ปี 1999 ได้จากที่นี่  http://www.google.com/holidaylogos.html

Plaxo was starting with address book and calendar online synchronize.  It had a rough start that everyone consider its invitation was spam.  But later it proved itself that it was a good application and very useful.  I have used Plaxo to sync my calendar and address book for more than 4 years and also backup to Yahoo and Google calendar.  It also has ‘Premium’ feature with subscription cost.

Until recently, Plaxo decide to move the Outlook sync feature to ‘Premium’ service.  The subscription fee of $49.95 per year is quite steep for me to just sync the pda.  So I have to say goodbye to Plaxo.

Please let me know is there any good and workable alternative for this.  I’m sure that there are a lot of  former users of Plaxo would like to know as well.

ในที่สุด Firefox 3.5 ได้ออกมาสู่สาธารณะหลังจากที่ปล่อยให้ชาวเนทเล่น IE 8 มาพักใหญ่  โดยที่ feature หลักๆ ที่เป็นตัวชูธงเช่น

• undo closed tab  อันนี้รอมานาน
• private browsing mode
• Geo-location browsing  อันนี้ถ้าต่อ internet ด้วย WiFi แล้วจะเห็นว่ามันแม่นยำมาก  ลองดูได้ที่นี่

ว่าไปแล้ว Firefox ตัวนี้ load เร็วขึ้นกว่าเดิมแต่ยังไม่ชนะ Google Chrome  และยังไม่ได้แยก process ในแต่ละ tab เหมือนกับ Chrome

Two unrelated news but I would like to have it here.

First, Apple announce new iPod – 4th Gen iPod Nano, New iPod Classic and 2nd Gen iPod Touch.  Most of them0 have twice storage with fancy color.

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) goes online today (Sep 10) and we’re still here despite the fear of massive black hole that will destroy earth.  World captures this event even Google has their own Google Doodle for this.

In the world of Web 2.0 where the Internet is where user generated content rules, many micro blogs born and die.  One of the site that I often is Jaiku where I can just post a short word such as what I’m doing, how do I feel now.  I can do this from the web, SMS or even Symbian client (Nokia N73).  This kind of popular now and there are many site that do this.

Jaiku is a project from 2 Finn and now gains momentum and popularity enough to attract attention from Google.  Let’s see how Google will do with Jaiku.  We may see the Jaiku client to be included in the rumored gPhone?
