Look at this astronaut install the ESA’s Columbus Laboratory<\/a> to International Space Station (ISS).\u00a0 Would like to know what he thought when floating hundreds Km above the earth.<\/p>\n

The International Space Station (ISS) has been equipped with a powerful new scientific laboratory. The Space Shuttle Atlantis<\/a> delivered the Columbus Laboratory<\/a> to the ISS<\/a> and installed the seven meter long module over the past week. Columbus<\/a> has ten racks for experiments that can be controlled from the station or the Columbus Control Center<\/a> in Germany<\/a>. The first set of experiments includes the Fluid Science Laboratory<\/a> that will explore fluid properties in the microgravity<\/a> of low Earth orbit<\/a>, and Biolab<\/a> which supports experiments on microorganisms<\/a>. Future Columbus experiments include an atomic clock<\/a> that will test minuscule timing effects including those expected by Einstein<\/a>‘s General Theory<\/a> of Relativity. Pictured above<\/a>, mission specialist Hans Schlegel<\/a> works on the outside of Columbus. Scientists from all over the world<\/a> may propose and carry out experiments to be done on the laboratory during its ten year mission.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
