Firefox 8 ออกมาให้แฟนๆ download มาใช้งานกันได้แล้ว ด้วยหลักการในการออก major release ใหม่อย่ารวดเร็ว ทำให้ version ตาม Google Chrome เข้าใกล้ขึ้นเรื่อยๆ ภายในปีหน้าคงไล่กันทัน

Firefox 5.0 was release not long ago.. Without any minor version, now the new version, Firefox 6.0, is out. This may be an attemp to catchup with Google Chrome version number (current in v13).
Actually I see no different in V6 from V5..
ยังจำได้ว่าพึ่งเขียนถึง Firefox 4.0 ไปได้ไม่นาน วั้นนี้ทาง Mozilla.org ได้ออก browser Firefox 5.0 มาให้ download มาใช้กันฟรีๆ
Firefox เป็น Internet browser ที่เป็นคู่ปรับของ Internet Explorer มาแต่ช้านาน ด้วยการออกแบบที่คำนึงถึงความเร็วและความปลอดภัย แม้ทุกวันนี้จะได้ส่วนแบ่งมากขึ้นเรื่อยๆ แต่ก็ยังไม่ขึ้นเป็นที่ 1 ซักที
ทาง Mozilla.org เปลี่ยน model ในการพัฒนาโดยจะออก release ถึ่ขึ่น ดังนั้นเราอาจจะได้เห็น Firefox 10 ได้ในไม่นานนี้
ด้วยหน้าตาที่เปลี่ยนไปเล็กน้อย แต่เพิ่มความสามารถในการทำ private browsing หรือเพิ่ม App Tab ให้สามารถกำหนด application ให้เป็นเหมือนกับ tab ถาวรได้ ก็คงต้องดูกันว่าด้วยความสามารถพวกนี้จะดึงส่วนแบ่งตลาดมาเพิ่มได้หรือไม่
สำหรับคนที่ใช้งาน Internet เป็นประจำ browser นั้นคงเป็นสิ่งที่คุ้นเคยกันดี เพราะเป็นเหมือนหน้าต่างที่จะเชื่อมไปยัง Internet ในบรรดา browser ที่เป็นที่นิยมนั้นก็จะมี Internet Explorer, Firefox และ Chrome ตัวแรกนั้นเป็นของ Microsoft ที่ให้มากับ Windows ซึ่งเร็วๆ นี้ออก version 9 มาให้ใช้กันแล้ว ส่วน Firefox นั้นก็ออก 3.6 และกำลังจะออก version 4 ในไม่กี่ชั่วโมงข้างหน้านี้ ส่วนเจ้าล่าสุดก็คือ Chrome โดย Google ซึ่งเป็น browser ที่น่าสนใจอยู่ไม่น้อย
เจ้า Firefox หรือ “หมาไฟ” นั้นออกมาท่ามกลางความเบื่อหน่าย IE ที่ช้าและมี security hole มากมาย โดยที่ Firefox เน้นความเร็วและความปลอดภัยของผู้ใช้ โดยที่ Firefox เป็นโครงการแบบ open source ที่มีคนร่วมกันพัฒนาเป็นจำนวนมาก โดยที่เริ่มต้นก็มีคนสนใจเป็นจำนวนมากเพราะเป็นทางเลือกใหม่จาก IE
ผมเองก็หยุดใช้ IE หันมาใช้ Firefox มาพักใหญ่ ส่วน Chrome นั้นก็ download มาแต่ไม่ค่อยได้ใช้เท่าไหร่ จนถึง Firefox 3.6.x ถึงได้เริ่มรู้สึกว่า Firefox นี้เริ่มอืด บางครั้งใช้ memory ถึง 800MB ซึ่งบางคนก็ว่าเป็นปัญหาเรื่อง memory leak เมื่อเปิดหลายๆ tab แล้วจะไม่คืน memory เมื่อปิดหน้านั้น ซึ่ง minor version หลายรุ่นก็ยังไม่ได้แก้ปัญหานี้ได้ พอเจอแบบนี้ผมเลยหันมามอง Chrome อีกครั้งซึ่งทำให้รู้สึกว่า brower ตัวนี้ก็น่าสนใจไม่ใช่น้อย โดยเฉพาะเอกลักษณ์สำคัญคือแต่ละ tab จะใช้ process ของตัว ดังนั้นเมื่อหน้าหนึ่งตายไป จะไม่ทำให้หน้าอื่นตายไปด้วย ซึ่งปัญหานี้ทาง Firefox ยังเจอกันอยู่
พรุ่งนี้คงลองใช้ Firefox 4 ดูว่าปัญหากวนใจต่างๆ นั้นได้รับการแก้ไขบ้างหรือไม่ ไม่อย่างนั้นอาจจะต้องไปคบกับ Chrome แน่ๆ

ในที่สุด Firefox 3.5 ได้ออกมาสู่สาธารณะหลังจากที่ปล่อยให้ชาวเนทเล่น IE 8 มาพักใหญ่ โดยที่ feature หลักๆ ที่เป็นตัวชูธงเช่น
ว่าไปแล้ว Firefox ตัวนี้ load เร็วขึ้นกว่าเดิมแต่ยังไม่ชนะ Google Chrome และยังไม่ได้แยก process ในแต่ละ tab เหมือนกับ Chrome
I’m a big fan of Firefox and try to use Firefox as much as I can. However, I found that some Internet banking in Thailand support only IE. Can’t blame them since almost 85% of Thais Internet user use what ever browser Windows provides.
Until recently I found another problem keeping me back to IE. Youtube! Youtube use Adobe Flash to play its video online. Looks like there is some problem with recent Flash player when installing to Firefox. The video will stop exactly 2 second while the video still load.
I do some research on Internet and found the fix from HERE. Seems like the installation of Flash has failed to put the file to Firefox directory. Now Youtube back to work.
Does anyone know Firefox? It is a rival Internet browser to Microsoft’s Internet Explorer. The developer claims that it is faster and more secure than IE. It gain more and more popularity as the market share grows. The Mozilla foundation is continually develop and add more functionality to this program. And now it come to the third generation.
For over 34 months that Mozilla foundation and developer around the world develop Firefox 3. They had announced that the will release long await Firefox 3 on June 17… (see the announcement HERE) They even have a campaign to set a download World Record.
But wait June 17 on whose time? Is it GMT, PDT, ICT or what? It is clearly that they are over joy on their new product and forget that there is time zone in use on this planet. People on one side that get to June 17 than others wait the whole day wait for Firefox to appears and they announce. Until later on June 17 they must have tones of e-mail from east side of the world that “where is Firefox on June 17? I’m about to go to bed already” that they announce that it will be June 17 at 1700 UTC (see the announcement HERE)
By the time they release their product, it is already June 18 here already.
