Star Trek (2009)

Star Trek เป็นโลกแฟนตาซีที่มีมาก่อนผมจะเกิดซะอีก ผ่านทั้งจอ TV และจอภาพยนต์มาแล้วกว่า 40 ปี เป็นสิ่งที่จุดประกายหลายๆ ให้มีความสนใจในอวกาศและดวงดาวต่างๆ เคยพบกับจุดต่ำสุดจนถึงขนาดโดนยกเลิกรายการมาแล้วถึงสองครั้ง ในขณะที่บาง series ก็ประสพความสำเร็จอย่างล้นหลาม

ผมเป็นแฟนตัวยงของ Star Trek ตั้งแต่ตอนไปเรียนที่ออสเตรเลีย ที่ตลาด series Sci-Fi ใหญ่พอที่ Network ที่นั้นฉาย ST 3 series 3 คืนต่ออาทิตย์ ได้เห็นช่วงรุ่งโรจน์สุดของ ST ในสมัย ST: The Next Generation, ST: Deep Space Nine และ ST: Voyager พอกลับมาเมืองไทยที่ซึ่ง Series Sci-Fi ไม่ค่อยมีคนสนใจ แต่ยังดีที่ Hallmarks มี Voyager ให้ดูจนจบ หลังจากนั้นก็ได้ข่าวว่า ST: Enterprise ไม่ค่อยนิยมใน US และถูกยกเลิกไปในที่สุด

ปกติในระหว่าง series นั้นจะมีหนังโรงมาคั่นเป็นระยะ แต่หลังจากที่ Enterprise ยกเลิกไปก็ดูเหมือน Franchise นี้ก็จะหยุดลงไปด้วย แต่มีความพยายามที่จะปลุก ST ขึ้นมาอีกครั้งโดยที่จะมีหนัง Star Trek XI (2009) โดยมี J. J. Abrams เป็นผู้กำกับ โดยกล่าวถึงช่วงระหว่าง ST: Enterprise กับ ST: Original Series จะได้เห็นจุดเริ่มต้นของกัปตันเคิร์ก และสป๊อค โดยที่ Abrams ตั้งใจให้ Star Trek นี้มีสีสรรแตกต่างจาก ST ที่ผ่านมา

ชาว Trekies ก็หวังว่าหนังเรื่องนี้จะปลุก Star Trek ให้กลับมามีชีวิตบนจออีกครั้ง ซึ่งเราก็คงต้องดูกันไป

What was Astronaut Say Upthere?

For those who wonder what astronauts said during mission back in ‘70s. NASA has put up a full set of mission transcript from Mercury to Apollo mission. There are many part to choose from such as Onboard Command module, Lunar module (Apollo mission) and ground control, each contain seveal hundreds pages of pdf file.

You can read through the moment Neal Armstrong say “One small step….” or when Jim Lovell say “Houston. We have a problem”

I recommend to get the Apollo 13 mission and compare the one we see in the movies. Some say that the movie’s dialogue is quite accurate.

Australia: The Movie

Went to see this movie this evening with Sandy. Firstly I’m not the one who ‘into’ drama movie but the name ‘Australia’ got me to the cinema.

For 2.5 hours of joy, sad and romantic. Feel that it end too soon. You can call me bias that I recommend this movie to everyone. At least, it is a must for those who fascinated by this country.

The X-Files: I Want to Believe

X-Files เป็น TV Series ในดวงใจของผมตั้งแต่เรียนอยู่ที่ออสเตรเลีย ครั้งแรกที่ดูก็งงว่ารายการอะไร(วะ) มีแต่สัตว์ประหลาด และก็มี FBI มาคอยสืบคดี จนมีตอนที่เกี่ยวกับ Aliens ก็เกิดอาการติดเข้าอย่างโงหัวไม่ขึ้น

เรื่องทั้งเรื่องก็มีตัวเอกเป็น FBI สองคนคือ Mulder และ Scully ที่คอยสืบสวนคดีที่ FBI สะสางไม่ออก ส่วนใหญ่ก็จะเกี่ยวกับเรื่องเหนือธรรมชาติ (paranormal) บางทีก็มีเกี่ยวกับผี สัตว์ประหลาด พลังจิต และก็ Alien ส่วนหลังนี้จะเป็น main theme ของ X-Files ที่ตัว Mulder นั้นฝังใจว่าน้องสาว Samanta นั้นโดน Alien ลักพาตัวไปตั้งแต่เด็ก และจะอยู่ในข้างที่เรียกว่า believer ส่วน Scully ที่เป็นหมอนั้นอยู่ข้างที่เป็น skeptic ที่จะยึดเอาวิทยาศาสตร์เป็นที่ตั้ง เรื่องมันสนุกตรงที่ว่า ต่างคนต่างก็มีจุดยืนของตัวเองแล้วเอามาหักล้างกัน ส่วนใหญ่ Mulder จะเป็นฝ่ายถูก แต่บางครั้งก็เป็นทีของ Scully บ้าง

TV Series นี้ออกอากาศมาตั้งแต่ปี 1993 ยันปี 2002 ก็เกือบสิบปีได้ และก็มีหนังโรงออกมา 1 เรื่องคือ The X-Files: Fight the Future ทั้ง Series และหนังประสพความสำเร็จเป็นอย่างมาก โดยที่มีสาวกคอยติดตามและวิจารณ์แต่ละตอนตาม web site ทั่วไป

ตัวหนังโรงตอนที่สองนั้นก็มีข่าวแว่วๆ มาตลอดว่าจะมีการสร้างแต่จนแล้วจนรอดก็ไม่เป็นรูปร่างซะที แต่ในที่สุด การรอคอยของเหล่าสาวกก็สิ้นสุดลง เมื่อ The X-Files: I Want to Believe จะออกฉายปลายเดือนกรกฎาคมนี้ ก็คงต้องไปลุ้นกันว่ามนต์ขลังของ X-Files จะยังสะกดคนดูได้เหมือนเดิมหรือไม่

ตอนนี้แฟนๆ คงต้องดู Trailer ไปก่อนนะครับ อีกไม่กี่เดือนคงจะรอกันได้นะ

High Definition war is over

The next generation of video disc which has been a war between HD-DVD (backed by Toshiba) and Blu-ray (backed by Sony). The was was going more than a year and make confusion enough that consumer are wait and see. The turning point in this war was early last month when Warner announce that they will support Blu-ray exclusively. That means 70% of movie release on high definition format will be on Blu-ray.

So long HD-DVD… we will (not) miss you.

Anti Shark Fin Soup advertise in Singapore

Found this from a scuba diving web as they claim that it is a Singapore advertise on Anti Shark Fin soup on wedding reception. The graphic is quite terror but it is not less than the truth what’s happen to the shark. The fact is every year people die more from car accident than shark attack. I personally blame only one movie “Jaws” that make the shark such a bad creature and not deserve to live. According to the Sea Shepherd organization:

Over 7,257 tonnes of shark fins are processed each year — and 181,487 tonnes of shark carcasses are discarded at sea. It says 18 species are already listed as endangered by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature.

“Every year humans slaughter over 100 million sharks yet we depict them as vicious and blood-thirsty killers,” the group asserts. “No more than 12 people a year are killed by sharks worldwide.”

For the photos, I could not find the bigger picture so I don’t know what is the writing on the banner. If anyone find a bigger photo, please let me know.
