iPhone OS 3.0

Today (Mar 17) Apple will launch iPhone OS 3.0 SDK.  The SDK or Software Development Toolkit which will be used by developer to write software to run on new OS when it lunch.   But no body knows what will be in it.  Many site speculate the new features are:

  • Copy, Cut & Paste
  • Multitasking
  • MMS (every one wants this)
  • FULL Bluetooth support
  • VDO capture
  • Turn-by-Turn GPS navigation

Let’s see how many will come true.

Canon 40D Firmware 1.1.0 and 1.1.1

It has been discussed and post in lots of webboard for weeks.  However, it hasn’t been released to the public yet.  The Canon 40D firmware 1.1.0 (then later 1.1.1) still not appears on official Canon support download but those who went to service center all got the camera back with 1.1.1.  Until K.Ber8 got the 1.1.1 firmware from Sathorn Service Center and distribute in this post.  There is no document what has been updated but new version always good, right?

Those who want to try it can download directly from here.  At least please leave some comment to let me know that there is still people interesting.

Canon 40D firmware 1.0.8

Canon has released new firmware for several model including 40D.  The release note mention the fix for followings:

1. Fixes a phenomenon in which Image Stabilization operation emits a sound when certain buttons are pressed, with the EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS lens attached to the camera.
2. Fixes a phenomenon in which the Image Stabilization operation emits a sound from the lens when IS lenses are attached to the camera.
3. Fixes a phenomenon in which a part of the image looks unnatural when reviewed on the LCD.
4. Corrects errors in the Spanish and Norwegian menu screens.

EOS 40D Firmware 1.0.5

Canon has release a new firmware 1.0.5 for EOS 40D DSLR which address the following issues:

  1. When playing back images just after recovering from Auto Power Off, the display now shows the last image played back.
  2. During remote shooting, images are now displayed on the camera’s LCD monitor right after they are taken.
  3. Corrects a warning message in Korean that appears when updating the firmware.
  4. Corrects errors in the Spanish menu screens.
  5. Corrects a phenomenon that prevented printing with some print systems.
  6. Corrects a rare phenomenon in which file numbers or image numbers were sometimes skipped.

By the way, by upgrading to 40D, I have to give up infrared remote shutter.  Now looking for the wireless remote shutter.  If anyone has suggestion which one is good, please let me know.
