โครงการ Space Shuttle จะเหลือ mission อีก 2 ครั้งก่อนที่โครงการนี้จะปิดฉากลงอย่างเป็นทางการ  ทาง NASA มีโครงการที่จะให้ชาวเนทได้มีส่วนร่วมเป็นครั้งสุดท้ายโดยการส่งรูปตัวเองไปกับ Space Shuttle

เวปนี้จะให้เราเลือกส่งรูปไปกับ Mission อันใดอันหนึ่ง  โดยที่สุดท้ายเราจะได้เลข ID มาเพื่อพิมพ์ certificate หลังจากที่ mission นั้นเสร็จสิ้นแล้ว

ครั้งนี้ไม่ได้เป็นครั้งแรกที่ทางโครงการอวกาศเปิดให้คนทั่วไปได้มีส่วนร่วมอย่างนี้  อย่างเช่นการส่งชื่อไปกับยาน Kepler ซึ่งไปโคจรรอบดวงอาทิตย์  (blog post เดิม ที่นี่)  หรือการส่งภาพ scan ลายเซ็นไปกับยาน Cassini ไปยังดาวเสาร์ (อ่านต่อ ที่นี่)

Tomorrow will be another day that Apple fan boy wait to see the announcement from Steve Jobs.

The highlight of this year will be iPhone 4G which many have seen the pre-unofficial release last month already.

For Thai users may have to wait 2-3 months.

The Unresistable Command

If the Supreme Command of the Empire commands you to turn right, can you resist?  Now Tom Tom has voice option when navigate to choose.  The newest one is Darth Vader voice.  The Dark Lord of the Sith himself will direct you to turn right at the corner or to stop when you reach your ‘destiny’.

It cost $12.95 to have him on the back seat of your car.  And for the Rebel, C3-PO, Yoda and Han Solo will come soon.  For me I’m more interested in R2-D2 one.

This is 5MB HDD!!!

In September 1956 IBM launched the 305 RAMAC, the first computer with a hard disk drive (HDD).  The HDD weighed over a ton and stored 5 MB of data.

Currie Munce, research vice president for Hitachi Global Storage Technologies (which has acquired IBM’s hard disk drive business), stated in a Wall Street Journal interview[5] that the RAMAC unit weighed over a ton, had to be moved around with forklifts, and was delivered via large cargo airplanes. According to Munce, the storage capacity of the drive could have been increased beyond five megabytes, but IBM’s marketing department at that time was against a larger capacity drive, because they didn’t know how to sell a product with more storage.

Google Android

google-android-statues-300x225 Google’s Android is the mobile operating system made by Open Handset Alliance which is backed by Google and others 60+ companies.  Each version of Android has a name resemble a dessert.

  • 1.5 (Cupcake) Based on Linux Kernel 2.6.27
  • 1.6 (Donut) Based on Linux Kernel 2.6.29
  • 2.0/2.1 (Eclair) Based on Linux Kernel 2.6.29

Google usually has plastic of the released Android version display at the yard in front of Android office.   Within several days, the new version was released.   Last week, there is a report that a new Frozen Yogurt sculpture display at the yard.

So we can expect Android 2.2 soon.

Apple Sells 1 Million iPad!!

มีรายงานข่าวว่าจนถึงวันนี้ Apple ได้ขาย iPad ไปแล้วมากกว่า 1 ล้านเครื่อง  มากจนทาง Apple ต้องเลื่อนการเปิดตัวในต่างประเทศออกไปเพราะขายเฉพาะใน US เองก็ไม่พอแล้ว

และเมื่อสัปดาห์ที่แล้วทาง Apple ได้เริ่มจำหน่าย iPad 3G ออกมา  ก็คงคาดว่าจะไม่พอขายอีกเช่นกัน

ในขณะที่รายอื่นๆ ทั้งรุ่นใหญ่อย่าง HP หรือบริษัทในจีนแดงพยายามที่จะทำอุปกรณ์คล้ายๆ ออกมา  แต่ส่วนใหญ่จะใช้ Windows 7 หรือ Android  ซึ่งยังเทียบไม่ได้กับ interface ของ iPad/iPhone ที่แสนจะใช้ง่าย

ใครมีหุ้น Apple ก็คงยิ้มได้กันทั่วหน้า

WWDC 10 – Time for iPhone 4?

ทุกปีงาน WWDC ที่ทาง Apple จัดจะมีการประกาศอุปกรณ์ใหม่ๆ เป็นประจำ  ในปีนี้งานนี้จะจัดขึ้นวันที่ 7 -11 มิถุนายน 2553

ในปีที่ผ่านๆ มาก็ถือว่างาน WWDC ในสองปีที่ผ่านนี้จะเป็นงานสำหรับการเปิดตัว iPhone มา  โดยที่ทั้ง iPhone 3G และ iPhone 3Gs ต่างก็เปิดตัวในงานนี้ทั้งสิ้น  เคยทำเอา Twitter ล่มไปในขณะที่มี Key Note เพราะชาวประชาต่าง Tweet กันอย่างไม่หยุดหย่อน

ยิ่งปีนี้มีข่าวหลุดเกี่ยวกับ iPhone 4G ด้วยแล้ว  ก็คงจะเป็นที่แน่นอนว่า WWDC 10 ก็จะเป็นงานเปิดตัว iPhone รุ่นใหม่  ส่วน Spec หรือความสามารถของทั้ง HW และ SW นั้นคงต้องรอดูกันอีกที

What Happen to Used Russian Space Equipment – Make a Bag!

Space industry cost lots of money and attract lot of attention to those who always look ‘up there’ and follow every space mission both US and Russia.  Some of them want a piece of history for their own….  They can!

everQuest design sells several design bags that use a piece of Soyuz TMA-3 main landing parachute as a material.  If you’re still in doubt, there is a certificate certifies the mission that parachute came from, what date, signed by Mission Pilot.  So you not only get a piece of space history but also cosmonaut signature..

Soyuz_landingSome of these Soyuz was docked at International Space Station as an emergency life boat for up to 6 months.  This particular mission Soyuz TMA-3 was flown during Oct 18, 2003 to Apr 29, 2004 (194 days).  So this is the real deal not some of the “15 second of fame” kind of thing.

This company also sells bag made from America’s Cup sail and iPod nano case mode from iPod Billboard material.  The price is quite high.  But what you’ve got is a piece of history.

iPhone 4G Leaked – Accident?

ต้นสัปดาห์นี้มีข่าวว่า  คืนวันที่ 18 มีนาคม นาย Gray Powell พนักงาน Apple คนหนึ่งที่เขียน software สำหรับ iPhone รุ่นใหม่ทำ iPhone 4G เครื่องต้นแบบที่ยังไม่ประกาศตัว  หายใน pub  ในคืนวันเกิดของตัวเอง  และสุดท้ายเครื่องต้นแบบ iPhone 4G นี้ก็ตกมาอยู่ที่ Gizmodo ในราคา $5000   มีการถ่ายรูป แกะดูข้างใน  และในที่สุดทาง Apple ก็ทำจดหมายขอ “อุปกรณ์” กลับไป  ส่วนเรื่องราวตั้งแต่หายจนกลับไปอยู่ที่ Apple อ่านได้จาก link ข้างล่างครับ

ดูๆ แล้วน่าจะเป็นเรื่องธรรมดาที่คนๆ หนึ่งทำของหายใน pub  แต่ถ้ามาคิดอีกทีว่านี่เป็นพนักงาน Apple ทำอุปกรณ์รุ่นใหม่ที่ยังไม่ announce หายนอก campus ของ Apple ด้วยซ้ำ  มันก็น่าจะแปลกอยู่เหมือนกันเพราะปกติ Apple จะเคร่งครัดมากเรื่องการป้องกันข้อมูล “หลุด” ก่อนที่จะประกาศ

BusinessWeek  ได้เคยนำข้อความเกี่ยวกับ iPad NDA (Non-disclosure Agreement) ที่แสดงให้เห็นถึงการหวงแหนอุปกรณ์ที่ยังไม่ได้ขายขนาดไหน  โดยที่ผู้ที่จะทดสอบ iPad หรือ developer ต้องส่งภาพแสดงว่าได้เตรียมสิ่งต่างๆ ต่อไปนี้ให้ Apple ตรวจก่อน  ถึง Apple จะส่ง test unit ไปให้

  • ผู้ทดสอบ iPad ต้องใช้อุปกรณ์ในห้องที่มิดชิด  หน้าต่างติดปิดสนิท
  • iPad ต้องผูกยึดติดอยู่กับถาวรวัตถุตลอดเวลา
  • อุปกรณ์ต้องเก็บอยู่ในสถานที่ที่ล๊อกได้
  • ห้าม Tweet ใดๆ เกี่ยวกับ iPad  แม้จะบอกว่าใช้ iPad ก็ไม่ได้
  • ฯลฯ

ดังนั้นแล้วการที่ software engineer ระดับธรรมดาคนหนึ่งจะถือ iPhone ออกมาเดินๆ แล้วก็ทำหายไปนั้น  ดูเหมือนว่าแทบจะเป็นไปไม่ได้เลย  หรือว่านี่จะเป็นการจงใจปล่อยออกมาให้เป็นข่าว  เพื่อเป็นการชะลอยอดขายของอุปกรณ์คู่แข่ง

จะจงใจหรือไม่ก็ตาม  แต่นี่ก็ทำให้หลายๆ คนที่คิดจะเปลี่ยนโทรศัพท์ต้องหยุดหันมามองหรือไม่ก็รอ iPhone 4G ตัวนี้ ที่ตอนนี้ก็ยังไม่มีประกาศว่าจะออกขายเมื่อไหร่

ซับนรก Hitler กำลังจะโดนแบน

downfallparody หนังเรื่อง Downfall หรือ Der Untergang  อาจจะไม่เป็นที่รู้จักในเมืองไทย  แต่หลายๆ คนน่าจะเห็นคลิปใน Youtube ที่ Hitler โวยวายกับทหารในบังคับบัญชา  ซึ่งในเรื่องนั้นจะเป็นตอนที่ทหารแจ้งฮิตเลอร์ว่าเยอรมันไม่สามารถชนะสงครามได้แล้ว  แต่ subtitle ที่มาใส่กันนั้นทั้งของไทยและเทศ  มีตั้งแต่ ฮิตเลอร์โกรธที่ Twitter เสีย  ฮิตเลอร์อยากกิน Pizza  ฮิตเลอร์สอบ O-Net  ฮิตเลอร์คลั่งเกาหลี  ที่เคย post ไว้ที่นี่ก็เรื่อง ฮิตเลอร์เกลียด BB  หรือจะวนไปทางการเมืองเกี่ยวกับทักษิณกับการชุมนุมอีกหลายๆ ตอนในซีรีย์ “แม้วเลอร์”

ทั้งคนดูและผู้กำกับหนัง Oliver Hirschbiegel ก็สนุกสนานกัน  แต่ดูเหมือนว่าทางทีมกฏหมายของค่ายหนัง Constantin Film คงจะไม่ขำด้วย  และตอนนี้ทาง Youtube ได้เริ่มลบคลิปให้ดูไม่ได้แล้ว

ตอนนี้ใครอยากจะเก็บคลิปไหนก็คงจะต้องรีบ download เก็บไว้ก่อนที่มันจะหายไป  ใครไม่รู้วิธีก็ลองหาโปรแกรม Orbit มาใช้ดูก็ได้ครับ
